Anaconda Enterprise 5.2.2: Now With Apache Zeppelin and GPU improvements

Anaconda Enterprise 5.2 introduced exciting features such as GPU-acceleration, scalable machine learning, and cloud-native model management in July. Today we’re releasing Anaconda Enterprise 5.2.2 with a number of enhancements in IDEs (Integrated Development Environments), GPU resource management, source code control, and (of course) bug fixes.

One of the biggest new benefits is the addition of Apache Zeppelin notebooks, popular with data engineers and those running database queries on Spark/Hive and JDBC data sources. Zeppelin includes support for more than 20 interpreters for data ingestion, discovery, and visualization.

Anaconda Enterprise 5.2.2

Zeppelin joins Anaconda Enterprise’s existing support for Jupyter and JupyterLab notebooks, and you can set the chosen IDE for each individual project, as well as a per-user default. Zeppelin is also fully integrated into Anaconda Enterprise’s source code control extensions, so that your work is easily checked in and you can safely collaborate without corrupting each others’ work.

Anaconda Enterprise 5.2.2 also has a number of improvements. We have improved the external Git server integration to make it simpler to store and clone projects in your existing Atlassian Bitbucket, Github Enterprise, or GitLab system.

In our commitment to staying at the forefront of the GPU ecosystem, we have made some improvements to maximize utilization of hardware resources when you have a mixture of CPU and GPU nodes in a cluster. Matching available resources with user’s editors, deployments, and jobs can potentially result in under-utilized hardware. So in 5.2.2, we provide controls for allocation to ensure that (for example) GPU jobs are not blocked due to lack of CPU resources on a cluster node, and that CPUs can be optimally utilized on nodes that also contain GPUs.

As with every release, we also have taken the opportunity to fix some bugs and make the product more secure. If you are an Anaconda Enterprise customer, the release is available today. We look forward to hearing your feedback!
