  1. Who can participate? High School/ Homeschool Students (Grades 9-12). You may enter as an individual or as a group up to a maximum of three people.

  2. Can I participate even if my school is not a participating school?
    Yes, we encourage everyone to participate.

  3. How much Data Science do I need to know to participate?
    Anaconda will provide Learning Kits to help participants learn the baseline needed to participate. No previous experience is needed.

  4. How much Data Science do I need to know to be a coach?
    We suggest having a basic level of computer science and or data science or enthusiasm to learn the basics with your students.

  5. What resources are available if students have questions a coach doesn’t know the answers to? Anaconda will host “Open Office Hours” where experts will be available online for questions. Office hours will be held third Thursday of the month, 3-4 pm CDT starting in October. Any updates to office hours will be found here. The dates are listed below. Can’t attend “Open Office Hours”?   6. What types of events are there?

    Projects that students will present in the exhibition outlined here or Live coding challenge.

  7. What is the time commitment as a student? As a coach/supervisor?
    We suggest committing at least 1 hour per week for learning the fundamental skills in your chosen category and 1 hours per week to work on your project for at least a three month period.

  8. Where is the competition? Specifics will be sent closer to the event.

  9. How much does it cost to participate?
    Nothing! This is a free event focused on encouraging and expanding data literacy skills.

  10. What does the winner get?
    Prizes for the winners include: $5k in scholarships for first place, $3k in scholarships for 2nd place and $1k in scholarships for 3rd place! In the event the winner is a team, the team would be awarded the below amount split across the team. *Subject to applicable taxes

  11. What if I don't have a computer, can I still participate?
    Access to a computer for learning activities and for project work is sufficient. If you do not have access to a computer, you may be eligible for a loaned Computer provided by Anaconda. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

  12. Do I need access to the internet for all my learning modules?
    Yes. If you do not have internet access, you may be eligible for a hotspot provided by Anaconda. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

  13. Am I required to use the Data Sets provided by Anaconda? No, you are not required to use the data sets that Anaconda provided, but you will be asked where the data sets come from if not provided by Anaconda
