# Uninstalling Miniconda (MSI)

This page provides instructions for uninstalling Miniconda when it was installed using the MSI installer.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If you installed Miniconda using the standard EXE installer, see [Uninstalling Miniconda](https://anaconda.com/docs/getting-started/miniconda/uninstall.md) instead.

## Backing up environments

If you plan to reinstall Miniconda, back up your environments before uninstalling by exporting them to a YAML file:

```sh theme={null}
conda env export --name <ENV_NAME> --file environment.yaml
```

Comments

Replace \<ENV\_NAME> with the name of the environment you want to back up.

You can then use this `.yaml` file to recreate the environment after reinstalling. For more information, see [Creating an environment from a .`yaml` file](https://anaconda.com/docs/getting-started/working-with-conda/environments#creating-an-environment-from-a-yaml-file).

## Uninstall methods

MSI installations can be uninstalled through any of the following methods:

## Verify your uninstall

After uninstalling, verify the process was successful by searching for "Anaconda Prompt" in the Windows search bar. The program should no longer appear.
