# Installing Anaconda on an air-gapped machine

Air-gapped (or offline) systems that lack internet connectivity can still run Anaconda Distribution or Miniconda by using a local installer file.

1. On a machine with internet access, download an Anaconda Distribution or Miniconda installer. Register for a free Anaconda account and download an installer at [anaconda.com/download](https://www.anaconda.com/download).
2. Place the downloaded installer onto a portable hard drive or USB drive and manually copy it to the target machine on your air-gapped network.
3. Follow [instructions for your operating system](/getting-started/main#choose-your-install-instructions) to install Anaconda Distribution or Miniconda.
